I enjoyed every aspect of ITEC 7430- Internet Tools in the Classroom this semester. This class taught me about a vast array of tools that I can utilize in my classroom. Now that I have taken this course, I feel that every time a teacher asks me about a form of technology I can give them many tools that they can use to accomplish their goals. I have now used many types of technology in my classroom to teach students and for students to use and explore. One aspect of this course that I especially enjoyed learning about was screencasting. I feel that screencasting is a great way to get started with the flipped classroom model. Other teachers at my school have talked about using a flipped classroom model in their rooms and now that I know how to use screencasting I can show them examples and ways that they can integrate this model in their classroom.
I have also been able to integrate technology into my classroom effectively. Because I have learned about so many tools, I am always thinking about ways that I can add them to my lessons. Many times, I find myself planning a lesson and then thinking of the tools I learned about so that I can switch my lesson to some form of technology. The lesson plan aspect of this class helped me get a feel for integrating technology. Because I was required to teach a lesson with types of technology, I was able to grow and feel more comfortable in the implementation. Through doing a lesson, my students also are more comfortable with the use of technology. An example of this is during our unit on Native Americans I use Google Tour Builder which I learned about through this class to create a tour of the Native American regions in the United States, and I was able to have students use the tour to find extra information to help with their benchmark review.
I have also grown as a leader in technology integration. We have a technology team at my school, and I was able to come up with ideas that will help the school as a whole with digital learning days. I also can help my third-grade team when they have questions about what tools they should use in their lessons. I am excited to do more coaching and help more and more teachers learn about technology and integrate it into their classroom. I have learned so much this semester and cannot wait to use the other tools that I learned about in ITEC 7430.
