The Field Experience artifact for standard 6.3 is a link to my field experience page in my Weebly portfolio. Throughout the past two years in my instructional technology classes I have been able to complete 14 different field experiences using forms of technology to enhance student learning, staff development and school improvement. By clicking the artifact link I am able to provide multiple reflections on field experiences I have completed over the past two years.
This artifact demonstrates mastery of the field experience standard where I was able to engage in field experiences to synthesize and apply content and professional knowledge skills, and dispositions that are in the standards. For each field experience log there is not only a log of events that I completed but a reflection on my ability to meet the technology standards and how that field experience relates to my knowledge of the technology and content and the dispositions that went along with the experience. Each experience was a way for me to use relevant forms of technology that I learned in my classes each semester. By using what I learned and engaging in field experiences I was able to better my learning experience by having authentic learning. I always feel that the best way to learn is by doing so field experiences are great ways to make sure that I can implement the ideas that were presented to me in my classes. These field experiences gave me the opportunity to synthesize and apply my learning. To actually use what I learned I first had to synthesize or think through the process and plan out my ideas about what I wanted to do with my learning and then apply it to the experience. These field experiences taught me so much about how to actually use the tools that we talk about in the classes.
This artifact taught me that the best way to ensure learning is actually proving it through doing. I learned that I can talk about how to use technology but if I am unable to demonstrate it in my own teachings then it is less useful. Doing these experiences showed me what I needed to synthesize and learn more about and helped me understand that sometimes implementation is not perfect every time. If I could change one thing about this artifact it would be to have more authentic field experiences. I think that they are the best way to learn so if I could have used technology more in my classroom I should have. I feel I can never have enough field experience because I am always learning.
This artifact impacted school improvement, faculty development and student learning because it was multiple field experiences that helped in various ways. School improvement was impacted through field experience in data analysis, faculty development was impacted through professional development field experiences, and student learning was impacted through using technology in my classroom. These impacts can be assessed through the various forms of assessments like surveys, observations, and test scores.
