Reflection:
The Professional Development artifact for standard 6.1 is information on what I learned about at the GAETC- Georgia Educational Technology Consortium as well as screenshots of a session I taught after the learning experience. At the conference I attended I was able to learn about multiple forms of technology as well as getting the chance to use those forms of technology to teach other teachers at my school.
This artifact demonstrates mastery of standard 6.1 about continuous learning where I was able to demonstrate continual growth in knowledge and skills of current and emerging technologies as well as apply them to improve my productivity and professional practice. Throughout the past few years as well as my whole career I have been continuously learning and growing because as a teacher there are always new ways to teach and for students to learn. Along with many other learning opportunities I had the chance to go to the Georgia Educational Technology Consortium to learn about technology and bring that information back to my school. By attending this conference, I was able to demonstrate my ability to continually grow by gaining knowledge about new practices in technology as well as learning about current and emerging technologies. This artifact shows two examples of emerging technologies that I learned about. One was called Flippity. I learned that this tool has many functions where you use google sheets to add students’ names or class information to create learning tools or random name generators. The piece of technology that I learned about was Goose Chase which is a scavenger hunt app that you can use for student learning. After learning about these tools at the conference I taught a technology class at my school to relay this information to the other teachers. The artifact shows examples of how I used the tools in the professional development to teach teachers how to use the tools as well as teach them what it would be like to actually use the tool from a student’s perspective. I was also able to use these tools in my own classroom as well as many other forms of technology from the conference. I used the tools to help students practice for tests and have fun when learning. By teaching the professional development as well as using the tools from the conference in my own classroom I was able to demonstrate my ability to apply knowledge and skills to improve personal productivity and professional practice. This conference was a great way to show my ability to continuously learn about new technology in the field of education.
By completing this artifact, I learning that continuously learning is the best way to be the best teacher you can be. Before attending this conference, I had never attended a conference so it was a great learning experience for me. Each session taught me about various forms of technology that have enhanced my personal practice. I could not believe how helpful the conference was and I learned that there are so many tools that I do not know about so I need to stay up to date on the various tools that can be used in the classroom. One thing that I would change when creating this artifact is to add more tools from the conference. I have an entire list from the three days I attended the conference of tools that I used in my classroom that I would have liked to describe. In the future I hope to keep leaning about new technologies.
The work that went into this artifact and professional learning impacted faculty development because the teachers learned about the emerging technologies because of my ability to continuously learn through this conference. Teachers where able to learn about two tools that could impact their classroom learning and create a more engaging learning environment so that their students would learn in a more unique way. This impact can be assessed in a post survey as well as observations to see if teachers are using what they learned to enhance their classroom practices.
