Reflection:
The Data Inventory artifact for standard 2.7 is a list of all of the forms of data that are used to assess students at my elementary school. This inventory lists the source of data which could include formatives, summative, standardized tests, reading inventories, or even behavior or attendance. This inventory then discusses what the data is used for currently in the school as well as how it could be used.
This artifact demonstrates mastery of standard 2.7 where I am able to model and facilitate the effective use of diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments to measure student learning and technology literacy, including the use of digital assessment tools and resources. By creating a data inventory, I was first able to think about all of the forms of assessment that the students are given as well as how technology is used to enhance those forms of technology. By discussing how they are currently used and how they could be used in the future I was able to model and facilitate the use of diagnostic, formative, or summative assessments and ensure that they are used properly. When thinking through the process I can then take the data inventory and turn it into a tool used for the school to decide on new forms of technology assessments. This artifact also demonstrates how to measure student learning and technology literacy based on the results of the assessments that are on the data inventory. The data listed can be used to ensure learning and track progress. This artifact is a great way to help school improvement because it is a reflection on current assessment practices.
By creating this artifact, I learned how to use forms of assessment to decide on what could be changed or implemented to more effectively use types of assessments as well as how to use those forms of technology to measure student learning. The data inventory also showed me the importance of looking at forms of assessment to ensure it fits the needs of the school as well as if it is being used effectively. One thing I would change about this artifact is to add more details to the section about more effective use. I would add more details on how technology can better enhance the assessments.
This artifact impacts school improvement because it is a way to show forms of assessment and how they can be improved upon which will impact how the school does their assessments. This could better practices and enhance technology use to better fit needs of students and teachers. This impact can be assessed through scores after changes are made.
