Reflection:
The Blog Post artifact for standard 6.2 is my Weebly blog that I used as a reflection tool throughout my two years at Kennesaw State. This blog was a way for me to reflect on various learning opportunities for each class as well as a way for me to think about how I can improve as a teacher. I was able to reflect on each class throughout the program as well as reflect on a few individual experiences and tools.
This artifact demonstrates mastery of standard 6.2 reflection where I am able to regularly evaluate and reflect on my professional practice and dispositions to improve my ability to model and facilitate technology-enhanced practices. When creating these blog posts after each class I was able to think through what the class taught me and my feelings toward that learning. Many times, I was able to think about my strengths as well as weaknesses about my technology learning and decide on ways to better myself in the future. The best way to reflect is to not only reflect at the end of an experience but throughout the experience so you can learn as you go. This blog gave me the ability to regularly evaluate my technology skills and learning as well as reflect on ways to improve. By thinking about my professional practice and dispositions I am able to have a greater impact on student learning and the ability to share my thoughts with other teachers and impact their professional learning.
This artifact taught me the value in reflecting on an experience. In the past I felt as if reflections where a waste of time but I have learned that they make a difference to my learning. Instead of ending and never thinking about the learning again I was able review what I learned and take in the impact of it. This taught me to take a moment to think through my learning and let the value of learning as well as decide on my strengths and weaknesses so that I can be continuously learn from my reflections. One thing I would have changed about this artifact was reflecting more. I did the end of course reflections to show what I learned but I would have liked to use this blog to do more reflections about emerging technologies. This would have been a great way to enhance my learning even more.
This artifact made and impact on staff development by creating the ability from me to focus on pulling out the most important parts of the courses which helped me when communicating this information to my school. I was able to better my school using the ideas from my reflections to do professional development and coaching. This impact could be assessed through surveys with the teachers to see if my reflections lined up with the feedback given to the teachers throughout the year.
