During this semester I learned a tremendous amount about being a leader in technology. I was able to dig deeper into the visionary leadership standards for technology. Creating a shared vision idea showed me how much work goes into coming up with a plan to enhance technology use at schools. The SWOT analysis and speaking with stakeholders showed me how to find not only weaknesses but opportunities to improve and how to do that. The action plan was then a way to dig even deeper and come up with a way to meet goals. This taught me that as a technology leader it is about finding the needs of the group and then deciding the best way to meet the group goals. Another aspect that taught me a lot this semester was the IT Grant Application. The application showed me that as a technology leader you need to come up with multiple ways to find funding when trying to get new technology at your school. This takes research skills and organization to ensure you get the funding that you need. The last thing that I learned through this class was the importance of staying up-to-date on relevant technologies. By using an RSS feed reader I was able to read about new and upcoming technologies that the school would be able to use. In the future I will use the RSS feed reader to not only stay up-to-date, but to also help other teachers at my school stay knowledgeable about relevant technologies. This class has taught me that technology leaders need to know how to do the research as well as implement it through a shared vision at the school.
