ITEC 7400 taught me so much about becoming a technology coach. I learned ways that teachers and coaches can integrate technology into lessons and help other teachers incorporate technology into lessons. The focus of this class was the Engaged Learning Indicators and LoTi Levels that can help create the best experiences possible for students. Using the Indicators and levels provided me with the knowledge I needed to become a good coach and evaluate lessons. I am now able to advise other teachers about their lessons about technology. Working with the other students in my ITEC 7400 class to coach them on their projects was the most beneficial part of this course. I felt as if I was able to give them good advice on what they could do to improve their projects and explain the LoTi Levels. I feel confident that I could coach other teachers using what I learned from this class.
I also learned that K-12 students are motivated by using technology in their lessons. Today, students have many forms of technology that they use in their everyday life. I have found that technology is a way, for one, to motivate students to create new and exciting projects but also a form of communication to the world. Students can collaborate with others, as they never have before. I see, after learning in this class, that there are endless possibilities when it comes to mentors and getting information to and from a broad audience. NETS- S states that students should be able to use technology to not only collaborate and interact with peers but with experts and other audiences. This class showed me the technology that could help accomplish that standard. The NETS- C standards are a great way to see what it takes to be a technology coach. Through the learning provided in this class, I feel comfortable collaboratively planning and assisting other educators with their technology needs. I learned how to differentiate using technology and mostly to come up with authentic learning experiences. I feel like I still have more learning to do about technology, but I feel comfortable talking and coaching other teachers on technology and how they can integrate it seamlessly into their classroom.
